We have the pleasure to announce that the European Law Faculties Association is now accepting submissions for the ELFA Awards 2019 regarding the best Doctoral thesis in European law (including comparative law) defended in the academic year 2018-2019. Note that any European jurist having his or her Doctoral thesis / Ph.D. as part of a doctorate programme accepted and approved between the period 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2019 is eligible. We would like to inform you about the last ELFA Board meeting that was hosted by the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, on the 12th and 13th of June. In this ordinary meeting, the Board had a very positive evaluation of the Annual General Meeting held this year in Turin, and dealt with a number of projects regarding our association, including its financial matters. The 2019 Conference and AGM Turin took place between the 10th and the 12th of April in Turin. The Conference started with an institutional welcome and then it was followed by a key note speech which was addressed by the President of the European University Institute. The Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB), member of ELFA with an observer status, is promoting the drafting of the Charter of Barcelona for the Rights of Citizens in the Digital Era. The project aims at assessing the impact of the Information Society on the rights of people. Moreover, it strives to lay the foundations for a global agreement representing the improvement in the quality of life and the preservation of human rights in the digital environment. This year's Conference, which is held in Turin from the 10 to the 12 of April, is entitled "Integration and Diversity in European Legal Education." We are writing to inform you that ELFA has already recognised the first ELFA Summer Courses! As it is known, ELFA wants to become a bridge to promote joint research and learning between their members, especially in areas of the European Union. In this regard, ELFA is activating and enhancing teaching and scientific exchanges between Law faculties, in particular by extending the knowledge of the various EU law fields to current and future jurists. The first meeting of the ELFA-ELI European Jurist Project took place on Friday 21 September 2018, at the Société de Législation Comparée and at the Cour de Cassation, in Paris, France. The European Jurist initiative aims at generating a hub to develop mechanisms enabling further Europeanisation of the legal profession.
