During the last ELFA Annual General Meeting, which was held online on 16 October 2020, it was announced that the next AGM and Conference would take place in Warsaw (Poland) from 21 to 23 April 2021. However, at the time of writing, the restrictive measures imposed by most countries in order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic are still in force, and, unfortunately, they are unlikely to be lifted in the short term. The circumstances are causing great uncertainty, affecting not only the feasibility of organising an on-site event in Warsaw but also the Association’s Members’ own options to plan attendance at the meeting as well as their travel and accommodation.
For these reasons, the ELFA Board of Directors has taken the decision to cancel the face-to-face meeting scheduled for 21-23 April 2021 in Warsaw. This has certainly not been an easy choice to make, but it appears to be the best option taking into account current developments and the way the situation may yet evolve between now and April.
Instead of an in-person meeting, the Board of Directors is organising an online Annual General Meeting. This complies with the Association’s legal obligations and ensures that we maintain the tradition of yearly gatherings of ELFA’s Members if only in a virtual format.
As well as the AGM, the Board is preparing other academic events which we hope will be of interest to all Members. The date of the AGM, the agenda and information how to access the meeting will be duly announced through this website and also communicated by email.
