We wish to inform you about the statement approved by the ELFA Board of Directors in its meeting of 8th March 2022: ELFA’s Board of Directors strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and calls for the cessation of all hostilities. Military activities against an independent state openly violate the Charter of the United Nations of 1945, and the Russian troops’ operations which have led to a humanitarian crisis are a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights of 1950. ELFA wishes to express sympathy with the people of Ukraine and supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity. [...]
The Annual General Meeting of the Association took place on 23 June 2021, at 15:00 hours CET. The event, which for the second year in a row has been held electronically due to the pandemic restrictions in force, combined the general assembly and elements of the traditional ELFA conference. During the ELFA Annual General Meeting, on the 23rd June 2021, the results of the ELFA Thesis Award 2020 round were announced. After having read the theses and discussed them, the jury has decided to award the First Place to Dr. Pierre Auriel, for his thesis "L’équivalence des protections des droits fondamentaux dans l’Union européenne". Dr. Auriel obtained his Doctorate from the Institut Michel Villey, Centre de droit européen, Université Paris-II Panthéon-Assas. As you know, the Annual General Meeting and Conference of our Association, which were scheduled to take place in Warsaw from 21 to 23 April 2021, had to be cancelled due to the ongoing state of emergency following the COVID-19 outbreak. ELFA's website has a new page section called cooperation, which is open for the exchange of information about academic events and activities organised by ELFA Members. It hopes to become a useful tool for ELFA Members, regarding both staff and students, ultimately enhancing cooperation among our Members. During the last ELFA Annual General Meeting, which was held online on 16 October 2020, it was announced that the next AGM and Conference would take place in Warsaw (Poland) from 21 to 23 April 2021. However, at the time of writing, the restrictive measures imposed by most countries in order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic are still in force, and, unfortunately, they are unlikely to be lifted in the short term. In line with the aim of consolidating and strengthening the symbols of our Association, the ELFA Board of Directors has promoted the registration of the ELFA logo at the EU Intellectual Property Office. Thereby, we would like to inform you that as of 8 January 2021, the ELFA logo has been recorded as a EU trade mark in the Register of European Union trade marks with the number 018305594.
On 16 October 2020 took place the first Annual General Meeting of our Association held entirely online. The President Marek Grzybowski and the other members of the Board presented the 2019-2020 annual report of activities as well as the 2019 financial report and the budget for 2020. They also explained their proposal to extend the term of the Board members until the next 2021 AGM and Conference, due to the current exceptional situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
