This year ELFA resumes its Summer Courses! The ELFA board of directors has decided to open the call for applications to all ELFA members. ELFA promotes summer courses offered by the universities that are members of the Association, providing institutional recognition by the use of the ELFA label. The conditions that must be fulfilled in order to obtain the recognition of an ELFA Summer Course are established in the Regulation. We have prepared a list of recommended hotels for the next Annual General Meeting and Conference that will take place in Warsaw from 22 to 24 April 2020. Please note that some of these hotels have deadlines for taking bookings, and particularly one of them will not accept further bookings later than 20 January 2020. On 28 and 29 of October 2019 an ordinary Meeting of the ELFA Board of Directors took place in Edinburgh. In this meeting, several issues were discussed such as the evolution of memberships in our association and the opening of the call for proposals of the 2020 ELFA Summer Courses. Moreover, the Board also engaged in the re-launching of the European Journal of Legal Education, as a key instrument for the discussion of topics related to legal education. The 2019 Conference and AGM Turin took place between the 10th and the 12th of April in Turin. The Conference started with an institutional welcome and then it was followed by a key note speech which was addressed by the President of the European University Institute. Afterwards, the 2018 Award winners were announced. The Plenary Session initiated with a session devoted to debating on a key topic, that is the role of Comparative Law at the Supreme Courts in Europe, an aspect that is increasingly being recognised from Supreme Court judges in various EU countries. The first meeting of the ELFA-ELI European Jurist Project took place on Friday 21 September 2018, at the Société de Législation Comparée and at the Cour de Cassation, in Paris, France. The European Jurist initiative aims at generating a hub to develop mechanisms enabling further Europeanisation of the legal profession. The 2018 ELFA Annual General Meeting and Conference will take place in Barcelona from 25 to 27 April.
